Believe Beauty Into The Blue Palette Review | Dollar General Gems

When I was growing up, my family lived right outside of a small town in Texas where Dollar General was the only place to shop, unless you wanted to travel forty miles to the nearest city. Dollar General was our go-to store anytime that we needed milk, bread, or in my case, makeup. A few years ago, my family and I moved to a new (even smaller) town that didn’t have a Dollar General and I was so disappointed! Thankfully, one was opened earlier this year. Let’s just say that I am a very loyal customer.

About six months ago, I purchased several products from Believe Beauty, a cosmetic brand exclusively sold at Dollar General. While some of the makeup was not my cup of tea, I have been loving an eyeshadow palette called Into The Blue. The palette consists of two matte shades, three shimmery shades, and one metallic shade, all of which are cool-toned. Believe Beauty claims that the palette contains highly pigmented and versatile shades that can be used to create both classic daytime and playful nighttime looks. If you are interested in purchasing the product, additional information can be found under the “Shop Here!” section below.

Through the years, I have found that cool-toned eyeshadows compliment my blue eyes and fair skin beautifully. The Into The Blue palette is entirely cool-toned and includes the following shades: an off-white matte (perfect highlight for inner corner and brow bone), a dark teal matte, a vibrant deep blue shimmer, an icy light blue metallic (great for halo and cut-crease eyeshadow looks), a taupe shimmer, and a gray-toned blue shimmer. I have had an excellent experience with all of the shades in the palette except for the vibrant deep blue shimmer, which I found to be chalky and poorly pigmented. The shadows produce quite a bit of fallout underneath the eyes, so please be aware of that when working with the palette. I recommend doing your eye makeup before applying any face products (foundation, concealer, etc.) to avoid smearing the blue and gray fallout all over your face. Personally, doing my eye makeup first isn’t a huge deal, but I understand that it is an absolute dealbreaker for a lot of people. In the end, I do not think that the shadows are the best on the market, but they are certainly not the worst either. If you are a fan of cool- or blue-toned shadows, the palette is definitely worth trying out for $5.00, but I do not think that everyone should run to Dollar General to purchase it.

For those of you who own the palette already or plan on purchasing it, I included an in-depth tutorial for both a neutral and a glamorous eyeshadow look below. Enjoy!

Xoxo,

Morgan ♥

Look #1: Neutral

For this neutral look, I blended the taupe shimmer (bottom middle) into my crease with a fluffy blending brush before packing the gray-toned blue shimmer (bottom right) onto my entire eyelid with a small concealer brush. I then blended the edges of the blue with the original fluffy blending brush that I used. On the lower lash-line, I blended the taupe shimmer with a small smudging brush. To complete the look, I brightened my inner corner and brow bone with the off-white matte (top left) using a small, dense blending brush.

Other Products Used: Loreal Voluminous Original Mascara in Carbon Black; Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 05 Ivory; Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Translucent; e.l.f Ultra Precise Brow Pencil in Cool Brown

Look #2: Glamorous

I packed the dark teal matte (top middle) onto the inner and outer corners of my eyelid with a fluffy blending brush, avoiding the center. Then, I applied the icy light blue metallic (bottom left) to the center of my eyelid with a small concealer brush. To soften any harsh edges, I blended a tiny amount of the dark teal shimmer into my crease with the original fluffy blending brush that I used. I blended the vibrant dark blue shimmer (top right) onto my lower lash-line with a small smudging brush and then brightened my inner corner and brow bone with the off-white matte using a small, dense blending brush.

Other Products Used: Loreal Voluminous Original Mascara in Carbon Black; Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 05 Ivory; Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Translucent; e.l.f Ultra Precise Brow Pencil in Cool Brown; NYX Cake That! Powder Eyeliner in Black
